GOVERNOR IBRAHIM DANKWABO: 2017 WORLD DAY TO COMBAT DESERTIFICATION, LAND DEGRADATION AND DROUGHT

the commemoration of the 2017 world day to combat desertification, land degradation and drought took place in Gombe state of Nigeria.
The state has acquired land for tree plantation to commemorate the 2017 world desertification day. he also said that his administration has created a Ministry of Environment and Forest resources with regards to the global attention on achieving sustainable development through natural resources.


According to him, the Ministry is to strategically implement and coordinate environmental policies and programme to tackle the challenges facing the state.

Hajiya Sa'adatu Mustapha, Commissioner for Environment and Forest resources, added that the fight against desertification is a collective effort.
